HOMILY OF WEDNESDAY 11TH WEEK OF THE ORDINARY TIME – YEAR B

HOMILY THEME: CAPACITY FOR GOODNESS

Fr Joseph Nyarko Asare

2 Kings 2:1, 6-14; Psalm 30(31):20, 21, 24; Matt 6:1-6, 16-18

Elijah was done with ministry and was ready to depart. Elisha sensed it and made sure he obtained the spirit (capacity and anointing) of Elijah. The request of Elisha is worth our contemplation. He requested for spirit and not material wealth. Elisha followed the call of God in order to become a blessing for many and not merely for himself.

We were made in God’s image and we must reflect His love and compassion. We must desire to become blessing and do everything possible to obtain the ability and capacity to be a blessing. We must not leave things behind to come to Jesus seeking for the exact stuff we have sacrificed. Like Elisha, let us seek for spiritual things and love to be used by God and for His purpose.

PRAYER POINTS
~Your will, Lord, be done in our lives
~For the grace to keep the Lord as our topmost priority
~That we will die in God’s grace
