BREAKING NEWS: POPE FRANCIS APPROVES THE CANONIZATION OF 14 NEW SAINTS

This Monday morning, July 1, the Holy Father presided over the celebration of the Third Hour and the Ordinary Public Consistory for the Canonization of some Blessed ones on Sunday, October 20, 2024
Carlo Acutis’ canonization will probably take place during the Jubilee of 2025.

The Press Office of the Holy See announced that, this Monday morning, July 1, Pope Francis has presided over in the Consistory Room of the Vatican Apostolic Palace, the celebration of the Third Hour and the Ordinary Public Consistory for the Canonization of the Blessed:
Manuel Ruiz Lopez and seven companions, of the Order of the Minor Frails, and Francisco, Mooti and Raffaele Massabki, lay faithful, martyrs; Giuseppe Allamano, priest, founder of the Institutes of the Missionaries of the Consulate and the Missionary Sisters of the Consulate; Marie-Léonie Paradis, founder of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family; Elena Guerra, founder of the Congregation of the Oblates of the Holy Spirit, known as the “Sisters of Santa Zita”; and Carlo Acutis, lay faithful.

The canonization on October 20, 2024

After the opening prayer, the Prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, gave a reading of a summary of the biography and the miracles approved by the intercession of the 15 Blessed.
“During the Consistory – read in the note from the Press Office – Pope Francis decreed that the Beatos Manuel Ruiz Lopez and seven companions and Francesco, Mooti and Raffaele Massabki, Giuseppe Allamano, Marie-Léonie Paradis and Elena Guerra be inscribed in the List of Saints the Sunday, October 20, 2024”.
Also, it is reported that, “The Blessed Carlo Acutis will be inscribed in the List of Saints at a date to be determined.”
The canonization of the young layman is likely to take place during the Jubilee of 2025 along with other canonizations.

Optatio: from the Order of Deacons to the Order of Presbyters

The note concludes by noting that, to this act was followed by the Optatio of three Cardinals from the Order of Deacons to the Order of Presbyters: at the request of Cardinal James Michael Harvey, the Diaconate of St. Pius V in Villa Carpegna was elevated to the title of Presbyteral; at the request of the Cardinal Lorenzo Baldisseri, the Diaconate of Sant’Anselmo all’Aventino was elevated to a presbyteral title; at the request of Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller, the Deaconate of Saint Ines in Agone, was elevated to a Presbyteral title.
