YEAR B: HOMILY FOR THE 18TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

HOMILY THEME: INVITATION TO THE BREAD OF LIFE

BY: Fr. Benny Tuazon

HOMILY:

(Jn. 6:24-35) Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

In today’s Gospel, the Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Jesus teaches the importance of seeking the bread which satisfies the hunger not only of the body but also of the soul. We should not be contented with the manna which the Israelites ate in the desert but with the bread Jesus offered. Jesus is the bread who the Father had given to respond to our hunger and thirst. Jesus satisfies us fully. Jesus is our enough.

The teachings of Jesus are the perfect guide to a perfect life. They cover everything about life. They are not about getting rich, powerful, famous, or anything which are of and for this world. They are ways to the Kingdom and to the Father. They are steps to holiness. They are pieces for salvation.

Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No other person had influenced humanity like Jesus. No other individual had surpassed His feats, rising from the dead, for example. The Church He founded had attracted so many and many of them gave their lives for the faith. Here is a resume of Jesus;
