HOMILY FOR THURSDAY OF THE THIRTY-SECOND WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A.

HOMILY THEME: THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS WITHIN YOU

BY: Fr. Benny Tuazon

HOMILY:
(Lk. 17:20-25)
In the day’s Gospel Jesus responds about questions on the coming of the Kingdom. It is neither here nor there. It is not a particular person. The closest Jesus defined or placed it is that the Kingdom of God is among us. Jesus was referring to Himself as the Way to God. He is also the Truth we need to be saved. He also gives the Life which even death has no sting. He cautions us not to believe or be swayed by others who will claim to lead us to the Kingdom. We had mentioned it before. The Kingdom is not a place but a condition where God reigns. Jesus taught what God wanted us to do. Jesus was, in fact, telling us about the Kingdom. He was its best representation. When we follow Jesus, God reigns in us. To be a true CHRISTIAN is to belong to the Kingdom.

In another sense, we should ask who or what reigns in our hearts, minds, and souls? To what Kingdom do we belong. Who or what king are we following? Jesus is the King of kings. Magi from the east travelled far to worship Him. He is the only King who defeated death by rising to life again. He was followed by so many people from different cultures. His words and actions were understood by everyone. He is a King like no other. He is a King for all peoples for all time. WhereJesus is adored and followed, there is the Kingdom.
