Zeph.3:1-2,9-13; Matt. 21:28-32

It is often said that appearances can be deceiving. God is much more interested in the sincerity of the one who actually does His will than the one who willingly accepts to do it but eventually does the exact opposite. Yes! We Church people are often like the second son, in today’s Gospel reading, who agreed to go to the farm but never went. But those we condemn; the tax collectors, the pagans, the prostitutes even though they initially say no to God, end up getting into heaven before us.

The Prophet Zechariah condemns such pretense in today’s first reading. Friends, in our daily striving, let us look to the example of the saints gone before us. Did you know that Lucy was raised single handedly by her mother Eutychia after her dad died? Lucy promised her virginity to God from an early age in spite of several persecutions which led to her being killed probably under the persecution of Diocletian which started in 303 AD. May God help us to say ‘yes’ and mean it, Amen.

Good morning dear. God bless your day ahead.
