HOMILY FOR SUNDAY MAY 29 2022

*SCRIPTURAL TEXTS*: ( Acts 17:55-60), Ps 97:1 and 2b.6 and 7c.9 (R. cf. 1a.9a) ( Revelation 22: 12- 14.16 – 17, 20), Gospel: (John 17: 11b-19)

Lord Jesus, we need the Holy SPIRIT, the Spirit of Peace and Love of the Eternal Father.

The love of Jesus is eternal. He has wonderful plans for you and me. Plans to keep us safe and bring our Joy’s to perfect completion by Sending us the Holy SPIRIT the great paraclate.

And this we all are waiting for now .

Let us read the full Gospel: ( John 17: :20-26)

At that time: [Lifting up his eyes to heaven, Jesus prayed, saying, Holy Father,] “I do not pray for these only, but also for those who believe in me through their word, that they may all be one; even as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory which you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you have sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to behold my glory which you have given me in your love for me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, the world has not known you, but I have known you; and these know that you have sent me. I made known to them your name, and I will make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.”

*_Reflections_ :*
Something we thought, we have everything, but forgetting that you and me is lacking so many things that gives really meaning to life.

In the Gospel reading above, it was said that, Lord Jesus lifted up his eyes and prayed, pouring his love, desires and benedictions on us by saying : “Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one”

Jesus promised us in the Gospel reading ” that he will make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.” oh what a promise of a true friend who cares.

Dear one, fear no more, let us rejoice, the Holy SPIRIT is coming to take control and wipe away all evils, tears, worries and purify the world and renew our lives with good things.

Let us be comforted and assured with the words of our Resurrected and ascended Jesus, that through the coming of the Holy SPIRIT, true peace, love, joy, unity and oneness will reign forever in our world again. Amen

Happy Sunday and happy new week of waiting to welcome the Holy SPIRIT the Comforter..

Always on my knees for you in prayers.

Your Rev. Sr Justine Oluchi Egbedike, Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco.
