Today is the third Sunday of Advent. The Second reading of today, from the letter of St. James, exhorts us all to be patient until the coming of the Lord. Many people have neglected this instruction and have found it very regrettable. Today, in this third Sunday of Advent, the liturgy is very much expressive of this fruit of the Holy Spirit. Using the allegory of how the farmer patiently waits for the precious fruits of the earth, St. James advises us to establish our hearts for the coming of the Lord.

John in the Gospel was becoming impatient, he thus sent messengers to Jesus to inquire if He was truly the Messiah. Being in prison, John seemed to have become wary of the coming of the Jesus. Many of us are like John in eager waiting for the promises of God to us to be fulfilled. God doesn’t fail in His promises to us. Therefore, we must be patient in our eager longing for the coming of our Messiah.
Happy Third Sunday of Advent!
