Dying Young or Old does not necessarily concern the age of one's existence on earth but has a lot to do with the kind of life that one lived while on earth

HOMILY FOR SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 17 2022

1Cor.15:35-37,42-49; Ps.56; Lk 8:4-15

Sometime ago, I wrote a story wherein I used names that appeared very strange and weird. So many of my readers complained about the strangeness of the names. Only a few had the patience to study them and realise that they were spelt backwards. Life is very much like that. We need to sometimes take things easy, reflect, and discover the simplicity in them. St Paul in the first reading reminds us that what is sown dies, only to live again.

Living in Christ therefore means dying to self. Come to think of it! To have hearts that are able to receive and hold God’s word, the thorns must die, the infertility must die, the distractions and temptations must die, sin must die; whatever does not aid spiritual growth must die. Otherwise, the seeds of positivity and life in us cannot grow. See? To truly live in Christ, many negative things must indeed die. Let the killing and dying begin, to the glory of God and for our good, Amen.

Good morning dear. God bless your weekend.
